Karl-Anthony Towns might be the best player particularly when accounting for the fact he is still just 23 years old, discussed so far.
He is going to average at least 21 points and 12 rebounds for the third time in four seasons. Only 15 players throughout NBA history have done. Add a triple that is nightly into the mix, and it’s Towns with three these seasons and four complete for every other player past and present. This is not just volume splashing, either. Since the start of 2016-17, his 39.8 three-point percent is 14th highest among players with 300-plus makes.
Coming out of the break, Towns has launched himself into the stratosphere. Over his past seven states, he has averaged 35.1 points, 14.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 59.7 percent from the field and 48.9% from range.
“It is only joking,” Timberwolves rookie Josh Okogie said, per The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski. “We’re all witnessing it.”
However, Minnesota’s challenge is finding. Andrew Wiggins is a quantity scorer. The remainder of the roster is comprised of youngsters or vets who figure to top out as part players.
It is hard to tell Towns will get the help he needs, unless this front office aces a mid-first-round selection.
